Kate texted me that she would be traveling to Chicago from Minneapolis for a quick 24-hour wedding planning session and asked if I was available to grab drinks with her the following evening. Kate is in her Pediatric Residency (soon to be Chief Resident!) at University of Minnesota Medical Center and does not get a ton of free time, so I jump at the chance to see her when she is available! Knowing full well that a typical happy hour when Kate is in town entails inviting ALL of our college girlfriends from Loyola University Chicago, I had a feeling that there may be a special reason behind the solo drinks date. Especially since one month prior, Kate surprised me with a cute package in the mail that when opened exploded confetti in my face and asked if I would stand by her side as a bridesmaid for her and Joe’s wedding at our Alma mater in April 2019! To which I answered, OF COURSE!
So during our evening sipping rosé on the patio of Bar Cargo, Kate asked if I would capture engagement photos for the two of them and I almost dropped dead with excitement. Kate, Joe and I have been very close friends (including roommates!) for a long time and we decided that both Lincoln Park and Chicago’s West Loop would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement session, given their many years living in both parts of the city. We had a fabulous time and beautiful (albeit sweaty) summer weather, and finished the evening with a double date at the Ace Hotel with my husband/bag carrier Paul joining in.
What a special day it was working with my sweets friends and I cannot wait for your beautiful wedding at Ravinia this spring!!
